Stiftung Mercator
The Stiftung Mercator promotes the NRW School of Governance with 1,3 Million Euro between 2011 and 2016 and has been supporting the NRW School of Governance in its start-up-phase with around 1 Million Euros since 2006. The aim of the continued funding is to ensure the quality of teaching and research, to sharpen the profile and to institutionalise the NRW Schhol of Governance at the University of Duisburg-Essen permanently. Stiftung Mercator therby seeks to support the far-sighted differentiation of the german higher education system and to strengthen des scientific Ruhr-region.
Welker-Stiftung
The Welker Stiftung of Duisburg was established as the testamentary legacy of Dr. h.c. J.W. Welker, who was General Director of the Company Franz Haniel & Cie, Duisburg-Ruhrort, for more than two decades. The goals of the foundation originally focussed on social issues, especially on elderly care. After an amendment of the foundations charter in 2006 a new emphasis – connected with the term “knowledge society” – was placed on science, research and education/training.
Haniel Stiftung
The Haniel Stiftung was founded in 1988 as a private charitable foundation by the Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH in Duisburg-Ruhort. The funding company has been owned by the Haniel family for 250 years. The philosophy of the foundation matches the conviction of the Haniel family and the company: the support of commitment, entrepreneurial courage and social responsibility. The guiding principles of the foundation are: To initiate new thinking, to impart knowledge and cultural openness, to establish interconnections and to provide thought-provoking impulses. Guided by these aspects the Haniel Foundation supports new, innovative Projects at German and international universities.
Stiftung Zukunft NRW
The mission statement of the Stiftung Zukunft NRW focuses on responsible and sustainable projects for North Rhine-Westphalia and its inhabitants. Since 1995, the founding year of the Stiftung, the mission statement has been shaping the activities of the foundation. On the basis of long term structural change in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia the foundation focuses on the encouragement of innovative and exemplary projects in areas such as science, the economy and in research that proactively deal with processes of structural economic change in the state.
Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft
The charitable Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft is the international forum of Deutsche Bank. Its focus is placed on new forms of governance and providing answers to changes and challenges in the 21st century.
